To start / restart XP, it takes about 3-4 minutes... I'm
running a AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz / 256 ram... defrag/
scandisk, etc. has been done.. My old P166MMX starts up
way quicker than this... Suggestions for quicker start-
up..

THANKS!

Get hold of a copy of boovis, I got one here.

http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/12/2/12-2-1.shtml

This will trace the boot process and show how long each part takes, the disk
initialization, the prefetch stage, driver loading, video adapter loading,
registry and pagefile initialization, winlogon and services phase and the
shell initializtion.

It shows cpu usage and disk i/o and utiliztion and process creations.

This will narrow it down so you know where to concentrate your efforts.

Bootvis times my system at booting in 19 Seconds.
