XP Sleep Mode (Shut Down)

I have a Gateway GT5252 that is running Windows XP. Weeks ago it went into
sleep mode and never came out. The monitor says "No Signal", the wireless
keyboard and mouse do not work, and the CD drive will not open. Is there
anything I can do to get this darn thing working? I don't need anything off
the hard drive, so if I could only do some "major" re-start to sense
everything I'll start all over. The system is only a year and a half old, so
I can not imagine it's junk already?

Thanks Everyone

Hi K.I,m not an expert but this has worked for me.My father in law gave me a
pc.It had 268 viruses in it.I removed the cover on the side, unplugged the
hard drive,started the cp.The can has it,s own start program.Then i plugged
the drive back in.Once i got it started i clicked start, run typed in msconfig
run. This brings up a menu with tabs on the top.click on startup tab.Disable
all apply and close. The pc prompts you to restart.Restart.Then i started in
safe mode which prevents worms from moveing around.Did a scan and removed all
the viruses.I then proceeded to Reinstall windows. The pc i salvaged is the
one i,m replying to you.Its a sweet pc.Tv out 2667 mhz.G-FORCE graphics
card. But when he gave it to me it wouldn,t even light up.Be careful if you
try this.Do not touch the mother board or any circuits.Or if you don,t want
to get brave you could always buy another hard drive and try that.Hope this
helps.TERRY.

Thanks for the reply Terry. I just attempted to unplug all my internal
components for approx. 10 minutes then plugged them all back in. Still the
same result, the computer has power and the power button light stays "blue".
The fan runs non-stop, the monitor says "No Input Signal" then the button
turns "yellow" (like sleep mode). None of my USB ports are working (I have a
wireless keyboard & mouse that uses a receiver), so I can not even try to hit
any keys to see how things are set up (like the F1 button). And, my CD drive
will not open at all. I just can not believe that all this happened from
being in "sleep/hibernation" for only about 4 hours one day, it was working
fine before that.

Hi K .when you unplug the hard drive.Start the pc with it unplugged. The pc
has its own start program. It will attempt to start the pc.Then it will say it
can,t find hard drive. Then shut it off and plug it in again and try
it.Sometimes it fools the pc into starting.Another thing you might try is
when you fire it up keep tapping the delete button.Sometimes you can get the
boot menu. When i did mine unplugged it waited until it started running the
start program from the pc then i plugged the hard drive in while it was
running. It worked, because it wouldn,t even lite the button before. At any rate
good luck.Tech is great when it works but sucky when it doesn,t.TERRY.
