XP Service Pack 2

I would like to know if anyone has expierenced after applying the service
pack if there system Would just reboot and shut off by its self and unable to
even go into Safe mode.

Mine did.....complained of missing HAL and boot loader. Then could not find the
HD.

Peter... What I found when I had this issue. I had to take my orignal cd and
re-launch the installation. Then everything comes back online. I hope that
MS release works on this issue.

I took the opportunity to start from scratch.....repartitioned and formatted the
HD
did a new install of XP followed directly by SP2
then all the mobo drivers........video drivers
then the firewall and anti virus
Good thing this is my 2nd computer and really did not have any thing important
on it.

Yes, same happened to me, I had to reinstall Windows xp Home.

Not tried it since.

You may try press F8 to enter the Windows Advanced Options Menu and choose
Disable automatic restart on system failre. Thus, we can see the error occurs
during the system start.

I have seen the error regarding the winsvr.dll, replacing it in the Recovery
Console fixed the problem.

That may be my problem. I had service pack1, I think, turned on automatic
updates and now have service pack 2.

System retore keeps telling me the restoration failed pick another restore
point
