XP Service Pack 2 installation failure

I am installing SP2 from CD and the files succesfully extract. However,
After I click agree the installation window disappears. I have tried running
Lavasoft to check for viruses. I do not have any anti-virus software
installed on my computer. I have also tried to install SP2 but experience
similar results.

AdAware (which is what I assume you meant - Lavasoft is the company, not the
application) checks for /spyware/ *NOT* viruses. Learn the difference.
