XP service Pack 1

I downloaded sp1 and it did not install properly. My
performance is slower than normal now and my external hard
drive still is not working at full capacity because the
sp1 is supposed to correct my usb drivers to usb 2.0 high
speed. Any suggestions????
 
Look in Device manager for an entry under other hardware, or USB. If there
is anything there with a yellow bang(!) next to it, right click it, choose
update driver, and then choose Install automatically. It will search for
and load the USB2 driver. it doesn't automatically update, you have to
update it.
 
Is your USB card a 2.0 card or is it 1.1. If it is not
USB 2 you will not get to USB 2 by upgrading the driver.
