XP seems worse than ever at remembering how you want your windows to look

Hi group,

I've just moved to XP Pro (SP2). No major problems or gripes so far except
that XP seems even worse than previous operating systems at remembering how
you want your windows to look. It keeps defaulting them back to "Tiles"
view, which I never need. (I have selected "Remember each folder's view
settings" in folder options.) It has always struck me as ironic that one
of Windows worst failings is it's ability to control windows, and I keep
expecting Microsoft to get on top of this. Anyone know of any solutions?

Thanks,

Francis Elers.

After setting up a window just as you want, go to the Tools - Folder
Options - View and click on 'Apply to all' to set as the default. What
is happening I think is that you are opening new instances of windows -
by some different route - and they are coming up in the default view,
which, unless you take this action, is 'Tiles'
