XP Search Hangs

If I search for a file in Windows explorer and click on "STOP" before the
search finishes the search process does not end, it freezes. I then have to
bring up the Task Manager and kill the explorer session. Believe this is on
Service Pack 2.

Any ideas?

Thx

This could be a spyware attack.
Also try creating a Test User account from Control Panel & check if the same
problem persist.

Malware Bytes : www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Please respond with the result & also do let me know if you have the windows
XP disc.

Do you use Acronis TrueImage software? Looks like a typical Explorer
behavior when searching drives those contain Acronis image files.
