XP says I have 3 DVD Drives but I only have one, and those don't even AUTORUN???

I have three devices on xp which are of concern.
Hard drive, dvd, and dvd burner

When I look under my computer it shows the following [4] drives
c:hard drive
d:dvd/cdrw drive
e:dvdrw/cdrw drive
f:some cd/dvd drive

Problem is I only have 3 devices, and it is adding an extra cd/dvd
drive to the list.

Also, neither of the dvd drives has autorun, no matter which of the
[2] drives I place a cd/dvd into it does nothing. I have to manually
figure out which file is suppose to autorun first and hope I
double-clicked the right file.

How can I fix the xp from seeing 2 dvd/cd drives when there is only
[2]?

How can I enable autorun for those [2] dvd/cd drives?

thanks

Did you happen to have also installed some type of "virtual CD/DVD"
software?

Can you figure out what F: is? "Some cd/dvd drive" doesn't tell us much. Is
it possible this is a virtual drive created by software?

On one system that I have, a portable, it came with virtual drive software.
Nice to have - when away from home, I can play a copied dvd or cd on that
virtual drive. No need to drag the disks around with me too.

The reason I bring this up is that the virtual drive software insists on
using the first available letter after the fixed local hard drives. If it
is at the end of the list, my physical dvd/cdrw doesn't work properly. If I
use Disk Management to change the drive letters - letter for virtual drive
first and then the physical drive - everything works fine.

Take a look in Add/Remove Programs to see if you have virtual drive
software installed. If yes, try changing the letters to your physical
drives in Disk Management. You may or may not see the virtual drive here
but its software should allow you to change its letter. If this is the
case, the problems with the other drives may come right without any
additional work on your part. Otherwise...

For autoplay, right click on a drive and select Properties. Autoplay
functions should be listed here. Review your designated actions for each
media type. If no luck there is an autoplay wizard you can try:
