xp router ips help...

Toby

Hello,
I run a linksys router and 3 xp pro PC's and find that often 2 of
the PCs have ip problems at startup, I have to physically unplug the router
and the issue is resolved. Is there a way of setting up my system to avoid
this annoyance please?

Are you using DHCP service from the router? Have you checked for any router
firmware updates? Have you tried to assign the IP settings manually on each
PC?

Thanks for replying, how would I manually set each pcs ip please?

As for firmware, my linksys befsr41 doesn't seem to have been updated for
months...

Right click on the connection under Network Connections, hit Properties. Go
to Internet Protocol TCP/IP and hit the properties button. A window loads
allowing you to enter the details manually.

I strongly recommend against this, though. You router can handle all
this for you. If it's not, then something is either wrong with it,
necessitating replacement, or you have it's settings screwed up,
necessitating you reading the manual and fixing it.
