Is it best to remove all PCI cards and then use the Windows XP restore CD

I plan to then update Windows XP SP1 etc. before re-installing the PCI cards (USB 2.0 and Firewire)

The restore CD will wipe the hdd and restore to original factory settings.

It would be best to remove and disconnect all external
devices, printers, scanners, card readers, whatever.

Be sure to backup your data, the restore disk will wipe
everything.
