XP reload

I had a problem with my laptop and tried which forced me
to reload operating system with the "R" command but it
hung for about 120 minutes so I figured nothing was going
on and initiated a re-boot. Now it just shows a
message "Setup is restarting" and does nothing else. Its
seems as if it is trying to recover from the previous
failure and at this point I'd settle for anything that
would give a C: prompt so I can format the hard drive and
start all over. I do not have a floppy for this so I
can't load a system disk. Any thoughts out there would
be greatly appreciated.

Most Laptops come with a System Recovery set of CDs

You should set the BIOS to boot off CD, then insert the first CD and it will automatically reload the system as packaged by the manufacturer

If you didn't have XP as the supplied OS, but say 98: then you can use you XP install CD and boot off that. However you will need to get online and download specific drivers for the Laptop which may include Video Drivers, Audio Drivers, Modem and others
