PC was crashing several times a day showing a blue screen with error message
"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer"
" A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or
been terminated"
Restore didn't help ( seemed to make it worse ) so in the end I formatted my
hard disk and reinstalled Windows XP Pro.
Seemed ok except for pages not scrolling very smoothly but later that
evening the PC again crashed to a blue screen with the above message showing
again.
Anybody have any ( helpful ) suggestions. Thanks

OK> Thanks for all the help and advice.
I found this UPHCLEAN thing and I'm trying this out for a few days to see
what happens. ( Hopefully nothing happens and my PC stays on )
I will let everybody know how it goes.
Thanks again for your advice.

Tried UPHCLEAN and thought I had fixed it when I didn't have a crash for 2
days but then it started crashing again and at one stage I couldn't get back
onto my C drive.
Finished up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling Windows XP Pro but
even with hardly anything loaded on my PC I am back to blue screens again
within about one day of the installation.
The only thing I can think of now is a new hard drive.
