I'm getting an error when rebooting (system has XP Pro) that starts with multi(0),disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32 and locks up at the beginning of the startup. How do I reboot directly from the CD, when I can't get past this very first step to reset the bios (startup path) OR how else might I repair this? Thanks, Tim

It looks like you have to reconfigure or rebuild the Boot.ini file. This
can be done by installing the Recovery
Console and using the command Prompt. Bootcfg, Fixmbr and Fixboot are the
commands you are interested in. Read this MS article

When you've got to that stage, you're past being able to enter the BIOS.
That has nothing to do with the BIOS, that's a Windows error.

You need to press the appropriate key as soon as your computer begins to
POST (if you don't know what the key is you need to RTFM).

The BIOS has nothing to do with Windows, just as Windows has nothing to do
with the BIOS. No operating system is necessary for BIOS entry.
