XP professional connect to windows 2000 professional across domains / VPN

2 different locations linked via VPN

Each location has its own domain using active directory
The domains have a trust between them

user:
\\Chicago\userabc

connects through my network places to

\\Boston

userabc has the same username and password on domain \\Boston

userabc can see all the machines on domain \\Boston but can only see
shares on other XP Professional and Windows 2000 server machines

userabc cannot see shares on Windows 2000 Professional.. NONE of
them

The machine I specifically want the user to see is Windows 2000
Professional with SP4

Any ideas anyone?

This is OT, but why do you have any local shares/local data in use on a
domain? Not best practice, honestly. All computers should be storing data on
the server in their location.

That said - can you ping the workstation by name? Do you have WINS in each
location?
