Are you running "Microsoft Update" instead of "Windows Update"? If so,
disable Microsoft Update and revert to Windows Update:

Let me give greater detail.
Automatic Updates On, First Window:Installing Office XP Service Pack 3
(update 1 of 1)

Then a second window pops up: Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage
the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable
disk that is not available.

Insert the Microsoft Office XP Professional with Front Page disk and
click OK.

Problem is: I don't have this disk, or need it. I really don't want the
update. I would like for the auto update to just skip this one. Everytime I
turn on my computer it wants to send this service pack and we go thru the
same thing again. I would really like to keep auto updates on. Is there
anyway to keep auto updates on and just bypass this service pack? Thanks for
your help.
