I have ms small bus. server 2003 and 4 win xp prof. workstations in a domain.
I have 1 shared document folder which all the workstations access. Seems to
work fine until....
people go out to lunch and don't shut down or log off their workstation,
they just leave them and they eventally become idle (screen saver becomes
active). When they return from lunch .. say about an hour, when they go back
to start working, they recieve an error when they try to access the shared
document folder both from applications that have been left open, and/or
through windows explorer.
I do have on each of the workstations, 2 drive letters mapped into specific
different directories within within that shared folder. This is necessary to
give everyone access to common application data. X's appear in windows
explorer.
Is there a way to ensure that the workstations remain connected to the
shares no matter how long the workstation is idle?
One thing I was going to check is the ensure that I set the workstation
screen saver and power settings to be ON all the time. I'm sure this won't
make the problem worse, but will it help?
Thanks for your help.
