XP Prof. upgrade not possible to foreign language Win98

Bill

I bought my computer in Mexico City in 2000. Having
Windows 98, I need to upgrade it to Windows XP
Professional in order to use a high speed flash card
reader for my digital camera. I go to Fry's and buy the
updrade kit. It says it won't upgrade an original in a
foreign language. Microsoft: what's with that? I paid
good money to your company for the original. what
difference does it make being in a different language?
What do I do now? If Fry's will give me my money back,
and I have to buy the new installation version, will that
work on my computer?

One cannot upgrade a particular language version of Windows XP
to another language version. In your case, you'll need a "Full Version"
of Windows XP in your desired language and proceed with a "clean install".

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.

Bill;As has already been stated, you can not upgrade one language to
another.
It is not Microsoft's fault you originally bought one language and now
want another language.
Both are choices you made.

You can return directly to Microsoft if Fry's will not take it as long
as you are within 30 days:
