XP Prof Install Problem

Hey, I'm trying to install a clean XP install onto a Maxtor 160Gb Disk, the
BIOS correctly displays the disk as 163GB, but when I run the XP setup
(first from floppies then from a non-bootable CD) it displays the existing
partitions as C: Partition 1 [Unknown] 131072MB.. Anyone know how I can fix
this? I've even tried connecting the disk to my existing system, formatting
it and splitting it into 3 separate partitions, but the XP setup still
recognises it only as a single 131.072GB partition. Also I've used a Win98SE
bootup disk and FDisk only recognises it as something similiar in size. I've
carried out this fresh XP install on the exact same disk model on a
different computer with no problems.

Any help appreciated!!

Why use a floppy disk....Simply install xp cd,boot to cd,select install xp,or
if partitions are a/the problem select recovery, press enter for password, then
type:DiskPart In DiskPart edit or create youre partitions, then press Esc
Then type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntfs Or D:,E: whatever,when thru,type:EXIT
let it restart, then boot to cd,install xp.
