XP problem

Hi there. Long Time no talk. . . have purchased XP -
real aggrivation compared to 98 - installed AOL could not
get it to do any searches - one of the .dll files
(shcalvu - I think) would not allow searches - finally
figured out how to delete it from the DOS window, but
haved no idea how to replace it with the correct one. I
had deleted "myfree" from my computer and it left a
residual in that dll file, so it would not search just
gave code 205 188 146 146 and a blank screen for any type
of search.

Any ideas?

First suggestion is to ditch AOL.

In at least 99 and 44/100% of the situations involving problems of any
kind on a computer with AOL software installed the problems are caused
by the AOL software.

Windows XP is at least 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times better than
Windows 98 in terms of stability and reliability (and Windows 98 was
pretty good).

Try reinstalling XP and this time steer clear of AOL.

As for the file name you mentioned - shcalvu - that is not a valid
file name of any kind, or at least Google can find no references to it
anywhere, so either you have a virus or the name is not spelled
correctly.

Good luck.
