I installed XP Pro over Windows 98 in my IBM Laptop. It
has worked well for some months. Yesterday, I was trying
to configure a new modem internet connection. The system
hung, and I shut it down. Now it will not boot to
Windows. I can boot to safe mode, and I have used System
Restore, but that did not work. I cannot boot to safe
mode with network at all. Also, cannot boot to last known
settings that worked. I do not have the original XP Pro
installation for this machine, it is lost somewhere, but I
do have another XP Pro installation disk that I purchased
and installed on another one of my computers. Any advice
and can I use the XP Pro installation disk that I have to
repair anything. I have looked all over the machine, and
I do not see any diagnostics available to help me
understand what is wrong. I find it odd that XP Pro does
not seem to have any, or am I just overlooking them?
Thanks in advance......

Try a System Restore from the Help page. Doesn't delete
your files. Pick a date to restore to that you know was
working OK. If that doesn't help, try what the other
guys told you! :)
