xp pro won't shutdown

Every time i try to shutdown xp pro by the normal
procedure it just restarts immediatly.This means that I'm
having to turn it off manually. I've recently instaled a
programme to seek out and remove spyware as well as ulead
movie factory 3. Could either of these have effected xp
as the problem wasn't occurring beforehand.

thanks will

have traced the problem to a IEE 1394 host pci adapter
(indigita)which when i remove solves the problem
however this leaves me with another problem how do i get
that to work, any ideas.
