XP Pro won't boot after disconnecting slave drive

Hello. I have a 30GB hdd with XP Pro installed. I have a 60GB only for
files. I bought a 200GB hdd today and want to install it, but when I
uninstalled the 60GB hdd from the device manager and rebooted, I only get a
blinking cursor when it's time for Windows to be loading.

The primary hdd is set to master and the storage drive is set to slave.

When I plug the slave back in and boot the computer, it boots up just fine.
I'm lost here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello -

Some hard disk manufacturers, such as Western Digital and Seagate, require
that you either remove the jumper entirely or set it to a Single Master
position when the drive is alone on the cable.

If this is the case, either adjust your jumper setting according to the
drive manufacturer's specifications (most always printed on the drive itself
and certainly available at the manufacturer's web site) or connect up your
new hard drive, setting it to Slave.

Is there a chance that, at some point, you have reloaded Windows onto a
partition situated on the slave drive?..
