XP Pro & Windows 2000

I am trying to add a machine running XP Pro to an existing Win 2000 network.
I have obtained an internet connection on XP, but I can not connect to our
network folder. When I try to map the network drive, it prompts me for a
password. I have no idea what this could be, I've never seen this before. Any
help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Make sure to use the same user name and password
when logging on to each machine.

Ok, the only problem with that is I don't know the password for our server.
The company that set up our network has since gone out of business and they
never supplied us with this information. Is there any way I can reset the
password, or is there a generic that I can use to override??

If there was a generic password then you might as well do away
with password - everybody would use the generic one!

If you have physical access to the machine then you can
reset the password with this boot disk.

After you have done so, think about documentation.
It's not so much that the previous support company never
supplied you with the essential information; it's rather that
you paid their bills without demanding that they finish the
job and document what they have done!

I agree as far as the documentation and will do so in the future, however, I
was not employed with the company at that time and the owners were not aware
that there even was a password....I think they were taken advantage of
because they do not know enough about computers. I will do what you
suggested, thank you.
