As a developer, is there a document somewhere that would tell me which O/S I
should use. I use Windows 2000 now, but am considering going to Windows XP
Pro.

Any comments?

As a developer, you are supposed to have the information available to
make up your own mind. 8>. You can develop under Win2k and have things
run under WinXP just fine (unless you do something really dumb) .. WinXP
is only NT5.1 (Win2k is NT5), so the differences are largely cosmetic.

If you want to see what your users see (assuming most of them have moved
to WinXP) then by all means upgrade .. however only you know what your
criteria are. 'Lack of trivial bug'-wise Win2k is still ahead of WinXP,
which has a nice Disney user interface, system restore (when it works),
driver rollback, fast user switching, better help files, and tons of
niggling bugs .. which it now looks like it'll be 12 months before MS
issues a service pack for.

You failed to say what kind of developer you are. Film?
Housing? If you're a software developer and you need to
post here, then I'm afraid there ain't much hope for you,
and you might as well stick with what you've got, as the
returns on any further investments are likely to be
negligible.
