xp pro upgrade?

Simple question.

Can a Full OEM version of XP pro also be used as a
upgrade? (e.g. from XP home or WinME?)

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi

An OEM CD can only perform a 'clean' install, so all data will be lost if
you use one of those. You will have to purchase either an upgrade or full
retail version of XP to upgrade an earlier version of Windows.

No. Unlike a full version retail CD, an OEM CD cannot be used to
perform an upgrade of an earlier OS, as it was designed to be
installed _only_ upon an empty hard drive. It can still be used to
perform a repair installation (a.k.a. an in-place upgrade) of an
existing OEM WinXP installation.
