I'm getting this error
XP Pro Upgrade Copy Error CSV.XS_
the file is there
Downloaded 2 times and cut new CD
any ideas

Thanks,
Mike

I did an xcopy to the Hard drive of the I386 folder, restarted the install
and still have the same error that it cannot copy various files with about 28
minutes left.

I have done a 3 or 4 downloads of the en file, created about 6 CD images.

Need some help here please.

Carey,

I skipped about 25 files and the install completed, rebooted and froze. I
shut the power off and on. Everything seems the same but
mycomputer/properties says it has XP Pro Version 2002 SP2.

Is there no difference in the look? What should I look for to be sure.
Thanks,
Mike

There may or may not be a difference in the look depending on what you
upgraded from. If it was an upgrade from another version of XP, you're not
likely to notice very much.

i just installed windows xp pro and in doing so... during the install... as
it began to copy files... certain files would not copy for some reason and i
was prompted to skip these files to continue... i did so and win xp did
install... it seems to be working ok... certain things do not work too well
such as to add or remove programs... would this be due to skipped copy files?
i listed all of the files that did not copy... how would i be able to get
these skipped files to put them on my computer? some help to my issues would
be deeply appreciated. thank you.

Skipping files is really not something you should have done. That's sort of
like putting almost all the lug nuts in the tire of your car before going on
a long trip.

Sounds like either your CD was messed up (scratched), your CD drive was
messed up (laser out of alignment, cable no good, controller on mainboard
messed up), your hard disk drive/cabling is messed up or your memory is bad.
(In a few rare cases - it has been a power supply issue.)

- Check the CD for scratches, clean it with a non-abrasive cloth.
- Buy a CD cleaning kit and clean the CD drive.
- Open the computer (turned off of course) and check all cable connections
and that the system memory is seated in place well.

After doing what Shenan suggested try doing a repair install and if
everything now works as it should those missing files will now be installed
during the repair install.
