XP Pro Suspend problem - Computer resumes after few minutes

Hello,
My computer has problems when I try to Hibernate or Suspend it. If I
Hibernate or Suspend it, after a few minutes it will start itself back up. I
have checked all the scheduled tasks to ensure they are not set to wake up
the system to run. I have also checked the LAN driver to make sure that it
does not have any of the Wake On LAN setting enabled. I do not have a modem.
I have a USB base for my PDA but the computer has the same problem even if
the PDA is not present. I have the Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard
and Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 also on my USB Hub. The USB Hub is a Belkin 7
port hub. I have removed the hub from the system and still have the same
problem. This system has 768 MB of RAM. I have an ATI Radeon 9600 with the
Thermalright Ultimate GPU Cooler (I would recommend the cooler if you have
the free space around your video card). I added a 2nd IDE controller a year
or so ago because I wanted to add more hard drives so I have 4 hard drives, a
Sony DVD burner, and a DVD-ROM. I also have a Sound Blaster 128 Live. I
would really like to be able to suspend or hybernate this computer. It is an
older 1.8 GHz HP Vectra VL 420 and it is a little slow on it's cold bootups.

Has anyone had the same problem as my computer where it keeps waking itself
up after a few minutes? If so have you been able to solve your problem?
Please help!!! I need this thing to stay asleep when I tell it to! Right
now it is worse than a 2 year old at bed time! It just wont go to bed!

Thanks,

Eric

Have you tried in with a wired keyboard and mouse?

Yes, I forgot to add that in the original post. I also checked the BIOS
settings to make sure all the "Wake On" stuff is disabled. I am sure it is
just something I am overlooking. I do know a good deal about computers and I
used to work as a hardware test engineer for one of the major CPU makers and
also as a computer repair guy. I still repair family and friends computers
but decided that going out to people's houses to fix their computers just was
not something I wanted to do for a long period of time. Back to the problem
I am having - I have looked at the normal offenders and don't see a reason
why this piece of junk keeps doing what it is doing. I just thought maybe
someone here had the same problem and discovered the fix so I don't have to
waste a bunch of time finding the same solution that someone already
discovered.

Thank you very much for your help!

Eric
