XP Pro startup

My laptop starts up fine but the keyboard is not functional nor is the
mousepad . The startup posts two error messages . 1) can't find MFC 71.ddl
and 2) can't find MSVCP71.ddl . Any suggestions ? I can opperate the system
with an external mouse and keyboard .... XP Professional version 2002

The keyboard/mouse problem won't be related to either of those files. Your
laptop almost certainly needs physical repair. A test for this would be
whether you can get into the BIOS or not - that is, if the system does not
respond to the keyboard during POST then it's damaged.
