XP Pro SP2 won't start normally

Just installed XP pro with SP2 on computer that originally had 98. Freezes on
startup when the blue bar is going across under the logo. All variaties of
safe mode work, however. I checked the device mangager but nothing seems to
be having a problem.

What are the specs of the computer? Make, model, hard drive space, ram, etc.
Did you run the compatibility guide? Did you remove applications flagged as
incompatible before running setup.
