Windows 2000 hanging during startup

I have windows 2000 pro which has suddenly stopped booting up fully.
The scressn displays the windows 2000 professional built on NT
technology logo and the startup bar shows all the bars and there is
stays. I can boot up in safe mode with network enabled, there are no
apparant conflicts. A variaty of diagnostics show no obvious problem
apart from the physical fact that it won't boot up beyond the point it
reaches.

Can anyone offer advise

More than likely bad hardware and or driver corruption.
