XP Pro SP2 shutdown/standby problem

I have recently upgraded my hp notebook software to XP PRO SP2, but am now
having stability issues.

When "shut down" is selected, the notebook does nothing. It still runs as
normal (no hangs) but just won't close and shutdown. It doesn't even get to
the saving your settings screen.

When "standby" is selected, the system does shutdown into standby mode,
however when turned back on the notebook does not recover (blue screen).

Since I have not had this problem with SP1, I suspect a software issue or
driver incompatibility with SP2. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The first thing I would do is head to HP's site and look for updated drivers
for your model of notebook.
