I am trying to setup Windows XP Pro SP-2 on a Dell Dimension with 333MHz PII,
256MB RAM, and a 13GB HD. The hard drive has been wiped and is unformmated.
When I boot to the installation CD setup starts and then freezes when it
reached the point where the message "Set up is loading installation files
(Kernel Debugger DLL."
I tried bootin the computer with CD-ROM support with an old Win 98 setup
diskette and running WINNT.EXE from the Windows XP SP2 installation CD. The
files were successfully copied to the hard drive but when setup started the
installation froze at the same point.
I tried booting to another Windows XP Pro installation CD and the setup
froze at the same point so it's not the media.
Does anyone have any ideas what the trouble could be?
