XP Pro SP1 and Dell Latitude D600 power options problem

G

G.T.

Ok, I set my Power Options to have the system go to "Stand by" when I press
the power button. I'm currently logged on as a regular user and in Power
Options under the Advanced tab that is what is still listed along with "Do
nothing" when the lid is closed. However, all of a sudden, if I press the
power button the system tries to shutdown, thankfully it gives a warning
that others are logged on, and if I close the lid it goes on Stand by.

I assume if I play around with my admin account I'll get things back the way
I want them but why did it change in the first place? There hasn't been a
reboot on this laptop in weeks.

Curious,
Greg

Hi,

Could be a BIOS setting as well. You might want to check them, as it may be
overriding the Win-based power options.
