XP PRO SHOWS INCORRECT PROCESSOR SPEED

WIN XP HOME OR PRO READS THE AMD DURON 1800 PROCESSOR AT
1200 MHZ, BUT THE BIOS SHOWS 1800MHZ. CAN ANYONE TELL ME
WHY ,AND CAN THIS BE CORRECTED. I THOUGHT I WAS GIVEN THE
WRONG BOARD AND PROCESSOR SO I REPLACED IT , STILL HAVE
THE SAME LISTINGS.. THE ALTHOUGH THE SYSTEM RUNS GREAT I
WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY IT READS THIS WAY. I HAVE A
SYSTEM WITH A AMD DURON 1300 MHE AND XP READS IT CORRECT
IN THE BIOS AND SYSTEM INFO, WHAT DO YOU THINK

I think you should first of all turn of caps lock - that is the equivalent
of SHOUTING - not very polite on the 'net.

If the BIOS says 1800MHz, and other diagnostic utilities such as SiSoft
Sandra, Belarc Advisor, Aida32, CPUID tell you 1800, what does it matter
what Windows says?

That's what I think.

Sheesh! Net Police!

Simply because, depending on the application the person is using, it may not
be able to be used. Some things require a certain CPU speed or better and
check on that. If Windows is reading it wrong, that is a problem.

I was wondering if you overclocked a 1200 to make it appear as an 1800 and
maybe that is why.

Other than that, I cant be sure why the bios would say one thing and XP
another. Maybe the CPU makers can tell you that if you go to their web site.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but an 1800 Duron (1800+) actually runs at 1.2
Ghz?!?
