This is a 3 day old Clean Install of XP Pro SP1 , today I tried to get into
safe mode, you get the Driver load sceeen, then after a few seconds it
reboots.

Works OK in Normal mode.

Very few apps have been loaded, its using a Firewall and Virus software and
Nero inCD...

Any clues..

Thanks

Some users who cannot get into Safe Mode after applying SP2 have
identified the problem as being caused by Nero's InCD 4.3. Going back
to an earlier version fixes this, although Nero has an update on their
site.

This would suggest that the vga.sys driver is damaged. That's what
loads for the display driver in safe mode. It resides in the
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache and C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers folders.
The one in drivers folder could be corrupted. Try replacing it with the
file in the \servicepackfiles\i386 folder. You might have to boot into
the recovery console and expand the file from the installation CD. I
haven't done this before so I don't know for sure which is the best route.

I don't know if running sfc /scannow from the cmd box would replace it,
if it's corrupted.

Yes it was InCD that was causing the problem and it was the latest version
4.303
