XP Pro & Partition Magic 8

I have obtained a rehabed HP D52 with a 40G WD400 drive & XP Pro as a
single partition. Can I use Partition Magic 8, from Power Quest before
Norton took it over, to duplicate the original 40G drive to another of
about 160G? On that drive I want the OS on the same 40G size with the
balance as 2 data drives of Fat32 so they can be seen by other older
OS's. I have heard XP ties itself to the MOBO but are there any other
issues that need to be addressed for this to happen. I have done it
many times with older OS versions but not W2000 or XP.

I look forward suggestions.

No you cannot use PM, you need an Imaging app eg Acronis TI, Norton Ghost

Winxp is not tied to the motherboard unless its an OEM version that is
supplied by a manufacturer and locked to their particular hardware, which
your HP probably is.
BTW You posted your winxp Q to a win2k group?

Sorry. You're right. I have been using W2k for so long that I forgot
to check the group in the title bar as it is abbreviated in the left
pane. I'll copy this over to the XP group for proper posting. Thanks
for the note.

No need to copy, you still cannot use PM

OK if PM is out & it is likely tied to the hardware is there an
alternative also what hardware would it likely be tied to? The only
item being changed is the drive everything else remains.

Its nothing to do with being tied, PM is a tool to resize partitions
You need Cloning or an Imaging app
There are some freeware ones, but I've no experience of these. I use Acronis
TI It can clone/image an existing setup and reinstall that image on another
disk, and expand that image to fill the new disk
Also the HD manufacturer will have a free cloning utility, but these will
simply create the clone to occupy the same space as the origonal, then you
can use PM to expand the partition.
PS I'm not sure whether PM 8 is winxp compatible
