XP Pro Offline files Tab Missing

HP Laptop running xp pro sp2, on domain

Laptop was running syncronization untill about a week ago.

Now for some unknown reason it is no longer syncronizing, the offline
files tab is missing and the options "Syncronize" and "Make available
offline" are missing from the context menu.

I have been searching for days for an answer, all articles are about xp
home and or fast user switching, in this case neither resolutions are
applicable.

Worst case I will have to reinstall the OS but who wants to do that?

Anyone come across this before?
