XP Pro Logon Screen

David

Hi-

I am running XP Pro and NOT using the Welcome screen to
log on. I use the logon window where you have to type
your user name in and type the password. I like this way
to log on. However, I do not like the Windows XP "style"
of the logon window. I prefer the classic Windows look.
I know there is some sort of registry edit to get the
classic Windows look because I have done it before, but
of course - thinking I would remember how to do it - I
never wrote it down.

If anyone knows how to help me out it would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks!

David

Wes-

Thanks for the link to that site. I have gotten quite a
few good tips off of it. However, it hasn't fixed my
problem.
I do already have the classic logon screen, however I
want to change the style of it. It has the original
Windows XP look to it - the big blue "bubble" of a title
bar on it. I want to change it to the classic Windows 9x
look - not the bubble look of Windows XP.

Thanks!

David;
You're welcome. There is a way. I don't use a logon, I go right to the Desktop,
so I don't remember where I saw this. Will post back to this thread if I find it.

David;
Try this: Open Control Panel/double click Administrative Tools/double click
Services/scroll down to Themes and double click it/under Startup type, click the V
and select Disabled/Apply and OK your way out.
You might want to visit the site and give it a good look. Has a lot of advice on
what Services you need or should have running.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Right click my computer>manage>services and applications>services>scroll down to
themes and stop it then adjust the properties to disabled. Close and reboot.
