XP Pro install

I have a 3 or 4 yr old comp. Contracted virus that made everything
unworkable. I am trying to install Windows XP Pro and reformat to start
fresh. The CD will install all the drivers with no problem, Then when the
program shows the licensing agreement and asks for agree or disagree it
stalls. Pressing F8 as instructed does not work. No further progress is
made. Everything stops working. Can anyone help?
