I could use some help in finding which operating system I need.. I want to
buy XP Pro (Full Version), and I need to install in 3 of my computers..
Apparently when I bought these computers, there were illegal copies of XP Pro
installed.. I would like to buy the legal Full versions.. I was told that
there was a version of XP Pro that can be installed on 3 computers but the
store said they were all out of that version.. I can't seem to find it on
Microsoft.com.. Can someone please guide me in the right direction?
Thanks...

You are looking for something that does not exist.

Microsoft Office Student & Teacher 2003 comes with licenses.
Perhaps that is what they thought you meant.
If they are confusing Office with the operating system, stop depending on
them for any information.

One license, one computer.
If you want Windows XP on all 3 computers, you need 3 licenses.
Consider OEM for some or all, but beware and understand the limitations of
OEM before spending the $.

The only version I know that can be loaded on at least 5 systems or more
is the one you buy under Volume License Scheme or Software Assurance or
Volume Licensing. I suggest have a look here:

http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/programs/sa/default.mspx

you get only one Cd and one serial key (or VLK) but you can use on any
numbers of systems permitted under the license.

Hope this helps.

The line should have been:
"Microsoft Office Student & Teacher 2003 comes with 3 licenses."

I am sorry to say it looks like you will need to purchase 3 OEM or Retail
Full versions.
If by chance you have unused Windows 95, 98, Me licenses, you can purchase
the XP Pro upgrade versions and have the option of doing a repair install
that would leave your systems intact.
OEM versions would be limited to Clean installs.
Other replies have mentioned the Volume and Academic versions. Both of which
have restrictions that may affect your situation.

I'm afraid that you were misinformed. You need to purchase a
separate WinXP license for each computer on which you install it.

Just as it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating
systems, it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and U.S.
copyright law http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/117.html), if not
technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on which it
is installed. (Consult an attorney versed in copyright law to determine
final applicability in your locale.) The only way in which WinXP
licensing differs from that of earlier versions of Windows is that
Microsoft has finally added a copy protection and anti-theft mechanism,
Product Activation, to prevent (or at least make more difficult)
multiple installations using a single license.

One can buy additional licenses, assuming one already has a retail
license. Naturally, Microsoft cannot sell additional OEM licenses. Be
aware, however, that you'll probably pay more this way than you would if
you were to buy a second copy of WinXP from a discount retailer;
Microsoft will only offer you a 15% discount off their MSRP.

The multiple license version referred to is probably the VLA - volume
license agreement version, sometimes called the Corporate version. IIRC,
this starts in quantities of five.

I don't think I've ever seen it in a retail store.
