xp pro folder display very slowly

when i double click my folders in my disk, my computer responses very
slowly,even the folder is empty, when i click the toolbar button "up"
on the windows files explorer ,more slowly, what's the matter, my
computer config is below:

thinkpad R60e 0658 fe2
3G RAM(very enough for xp)


anyone can help me,please.

yes,i did many times. there is no this trouble in safe mode, any tool
can find what's the difference between safe mode and normal mode?
