XP Pro does not logon to W2K Server

Darren

I have a Win2K Server setup and the XP Pro pc can log on fine if using the
Administrator account OR the Account with which XP Pro was setup with - used
to join the domain. This second account also has Administrator role.

I have created a number of other users in the W2k Active Directory, some
with Administrator, some with 'normal' roles.

These new users cannot logon to the domain - a message appears that the
domain DOMAINNAME is not available.

Has anyone any ideas.
Both machines are up to date with Service Packs, and Updates.

Cheers,
Darren

assuming the administrator and "the Account with which XP Pro was setup
with - used to join the domain" logon using credentials, you may have the
DNS issue. also use set command to check which is your logonserver.

I am experiencing a similar problem with an XP Pro machine
logging into an SBS 2003 machine which has been configured
as the DNC. My suspicion is that this is a result of
stale NetBIOS information which is cached on the client,
causing the client to interpret that the 1 available login
for that user is in use. If my theory is correct,
rebooting the client and/or the server might fix the
problem. Otherwise I would suspect that the Server may
have insufficient CAL's installed.

Hope this helps!
