XP Pro crashes when officejet v40xi is connected

M

Mike Berkowitz

AMD based PC with 1.5G memory and LOTS of mass storage
XP Pro with SP2 and all updates as of 01/28/07.
HP 7550 installed and working properly
IOmega USB drive removed and drivers uninstalled

HP Officejet V40xi formerly worked fine in November, 2006. Works fine
self standing

HP Officejet V40xi drivers uninstalled and removed

I just do not understand this one. I cannot use HP diagnostics as I
get the blue screen of death if I plug the USB cable into the printer
or try to boot the PC with the cable connected. PC runs with drivers
until the printer is attached. Please, Any ideas?

I had a similar problem my hp printer after I upgraded to xp. ultimatly we
had to unplug the printer uninstall all the printer drivers, make sure there
are no traces in your start up, then reboot and go to hp and get the proper
drivers and software, install it and then reconnect the printer. I think hp
has a trouble shooting page and that is where i go the info. also there seems
to me that the "RPC" had something to do with it as well??? good luck!
