XP Pro cannot Logon with correct password

I have a machine that we were in the process of adding to a windows 2000 domain. At some point near the end of adding the workstation, we got a message that a trust relationship could not be established between the workstations and the domain. Our only option was to cancel. We did and the system wanted to restart.

Since then we are unable to logon to either the local workation or the domain, the domain shows up in our domain list at the logon screen. The local logon tells me the password is incorrect. I have loaded the recovery console and I can logon to it with our password.

I have tried to repair the installation, but I get the same logon message after install

This may be arising from quite a number of things.
Let's rule out a couple.
Does the machine have multiple network cards ?
Is the clock on the machine accurate ?
Is there any sort of NAT or Firewall involved between
this client machine and the domain controllers ?

No, there is only one network card.
The clock is correct in the CMOS setup, but since I can't logon I can only assume that the clock in windows is the same.
No the PC is on the same network as the server

One thing I didn't mention is that after I tried to repair the installation, I get two different results when trying to logon locally or to the domain. When I try to logon locally I get the standard mesage to check username and password. However, If I try to logon to the domain I get the following:
unable to logon becuase the netlogon service is not running on this machine.
