XP pro as server?

Is there a way to set up an xp pro machine as a server for multiple rdc
logons? I set up a pc for a small home network and there are 5 laptops that
have wireless cards. I am trying to share the dial up internet access without
having to plug the laptops into the wireless access router/hub. Thank you for
any help.

If you already have a wireless router why not use it?

Sorry missed the part about dialup. Depending on the router this might work.
Turn off DHCP on the router. Turn on Internet Connection sharing on the
computer with the modem for dialup access. The laptops would still connect
though the wireless router but recieve an IP address from the computer
configured for Intenet Connection sharing.

A bit lethargic ?!? I thought 1 computer on dial-up was lethargic. Why don't
you upgrade to Cable/DSL? Some providers are providing their services for
dialup proces now.

I know it will be horrible but the user lives in a remote location that does
not offer high speed internet. Dial up is all he can get. Hopefully not all
users will go on at the same time. I have to try to make this work until high
speed is available.
Thanks for your input.

What about satellite Internet? DirecTV (and possibly others, too) is offering
high-speed Internet, and it doesn't matter where you live, as long as you
live in the continental U.S.A. I haven't used it personally, but I know
people who have and they are happy with it.\

Kerry,
Turning off DHCP in the router worked. I also had to manually configure
the network cards. Even though this is dial up it is earthlinks high speed
and I don't notice any speed problems yet. I only tried two connections on
the internet at a time. I have to try all pc's just to see what happens. This
is great! Thank you for your quick repsonse and help.

Chris,
I have looked into other options. He can get satellite but he is not
willing to pay for the service or the equipment. This will work fine for now
and then he can decide on wether the expense is worth it. Thanks for your
input.

Martin

Your welcome. Glad it worked. I'm not sure how Earthlink's high speed works
but all the dial up "high speed" packages I've seen just use a proxy server
that caches then compresses common web pages. If one of the computers starts
a large download (i.e. Windows Updates) it will really slow the others down.
If several tried to do a large download at once it would crawl. They should
really be looking at some kind of satellite access.
