I want to install another copy of Office 2000 on same
drive as current install. (I have a specific reason).

The install disk for Office will not let me. The only
choices are repair, add or remove features and
remove office.

Actually to be accurate, I want to install a second copy
of excel in a separate directory, from the office suite disk.

Is this possible?

Probably not, but ask the question in an Office newsgroup; they might
know a trick.

It's my understanding that anyone who has tried such tom foolery has been
prosecuted by Microsoft. The sentences are pretty stiff. I wouldn't use
even one copy of excel. The program is junk. Open Office handles excel
files better than excel does.

Can I ask what *exactly* you are hoping to achieve by this?

Another peanut with a cracked shell here, eh?

Perhaps if you described exactly what it is you want to accomplish, there
could be better responses. I can not envision any reason to have two
installs of Excel on a machine, although it could be done but with problems.
They will not and can not live together if they run together at the same
time.

What is your goal? I'll bet there are better ways to do it. Oh, and are you
networked?
