XP Pro 64bit

Hello.

I work with an 3.0 GHZ Intel dual-core cpu with hyperthreading technology
desktop system on which I run XP Pro 32bit. The machine is 64bit-ready and I
wonder: in case I'll switch to the 64bit OS, will that improve the overall
performance of the system significantly? And what can I expect in regard to
my drivers & software - will it all still run?

Thanx ahead for your reaction.

It *probably* won't improve performance at all.

Unless you run 64-bit applications, any performance improvement will
be so small as to be unnoticeable.

Your application software--generally yes.

Drivers, no. You will need new 64-bit drivers for the 64-bit operating
system. There's the rub. Those drivers may be hard to find, and in
some cases, not available. If you decide to do this, be sure you have
all the drivers you need *first*.

My experience was crazy... after you find all the drivers for yo
devices..(if you can). It was upsetting to me that 32bit programs ar
ran as 32bit with no noticeable speed differance. Programs ar
designed to run on certain logrhythems and that they will do the onl
chance for change is RAM. As new 64bit programs come out this might b
good but till then you are waisting you time and energy. Game
(64bit) may be the only differance. I have a dual processor 3.2 wit
1gb ram. Bryce, 3dmax, etc run just a little better because of th
ram. Good Luc
