XP picture and fax viewer

Is there any way to keep the Picture and Fax Viewer from
displaying images from the Temporary Internet Files
folder (or other places) when viewing images in the My
Pictures folder? If I double click a photo in My
Pictures, and then hit the advance arrow, a picture from
a different location may come up.

==================================
If you open your My Pictures folder or any
other folder...and select an image for viewing...
the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer should
only display the images in that specific folder.

If you open an image directly from an e-mail
message...you will see the contents of your
Temporary Internet Files folder if you advance
the viewer.

Deleting the contents of your Temporary Internet
Files folder will solve the problem.

When I open a picture attachment from an email, it opens
in Picture and Fax Viewer. When I use the arrow key to
scroll to the next image, I often view other pictures
that are stored in 'My Pictures' (even though I've not
opted to view them). BUT, I also have seen pictures that
I've NEVER seen before, and are not stored in 'My
Pictures'. HOW do those pictures get into the Viewer?
From reading the other posts, it sounds as if they could
have been from an email, and stored in Temp. Internet
Files, and if someone else on my computer opened these
pictures without my knowledge and even deleted the email,
they would still be present in Temp. Internet Files, and
therefore showing up in Picture and Fax Viewer. Is this
correct? Are there any other possible reasons why these
unknown pictures would appear?

When you visit an internet site that has graphics...
those graphics must be downloaded to your hard
drive before you can view them. These images
will accumulate in your Temporary Internet Files
Folder.

Deleting the contents of your Temporary Internet
Files folder should eliminate them.

Also you could try running Disk Cleanup on a
regular schedule:

Thanks John. I did indeed do what you suggested, thank you. I guess now my question is this: Are there any other possible reasons why these unknown pictures would appear? Is the ONLY way they can appear is if they are actually in a folder somewhere in my computer, or if they were downloaded from an email or the internet?

I'm not sure where we're going with this...all I know
is when you visit a website...all the graphics and images
must be downloaded before you can view them. These
files accumulate in your Temporary Internet Files folder.
