XP performance on ATA/133 vs. SATA/300 ???

I just added a 160gb 7200rpm SATA/300 to my system for extra storage to
go along with the existing 120gb 5300 rpm ATA/133.

The question is, will the performance of my computer be noticeably
better if I move XP and programs over to the new SATA drive?

It may also be worth noting that I've got problems trying to navigate
folders with a large number of sub-folders and files in them. When I
open them the screen stays white for a few seconds before the first
screenful appears. Then when I go to scroll down, it freezes for a
couple seconds again. Slower hard drive issue, or maybe because I
haven't run defrag in a couple years?

Like I say though, for the rest of the computer.... Starting windows,
programs, etc... would that be faster on the new drive?

The 7200 rpm limits the seek time. A 10000 rpm SATA will improve
performance (or does so on my son's computer anyway).

Yes. The 7200 RPM drive is likely to be noticably speedier in most
circumstances.

Its 5400 rpm, not 5300.

Defrag first. If still dissatified, try the swap.

The 7200 rpm disk should run everything faster.
