XP patch not loading

when I try to load the new patch, an error message (set
up error - with a red X) pops up saying another
installation is currently in progress, yet I have nothing
else going on.

Any suggestions?

Which 'new patch' are you trying to install? Please give more
details....

.....and NEVER run an executable that came to you attached to an
email saying it is from Microsoft - M$ DOES NOT send unsolicited
email, let alone with attachments.
